DR. AJENIFUJA KAYODE OLUSEGUN

Dr. Ajenifuja Kayode Olusegun graduated from the College of Medicine University of Lagos with the Best performance in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He started his residency training at the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta in 1998 before transferring his services to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex which he completed in 2003. He is a fellow of both the West African College of Surgeon and National Post Graduate College of Nigeria. He had his training in Gynaecological and Preventive Oncology at the prestigious Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, India as a fellow of the International Network for Cancer Treatment and Research (INCTR)

Dr. Ajenifuja joined the services of Obafemi Awolowo University as Lecturer 1 in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2006. He was also appointed honorary Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex (OAUTHC) in the same year. Dr. Ajenifuja pioneered the development of Gynaecological Oncology Unit. The Unit is in fact a pride to the Department as it also offers training for Consultants and Residents from Hospitals across the country. Dr. Ajenifuja’s quest for knowledge has taken him to several parts of the world for further exposure in his area of specialization.  By dint of hard work and impressive research output he was promoted to the grade of Senior Lecturer in October 1st 2009 and Reader in October 1st 2013.

He is an excellent teacher and has supervised the training of over 15 Residents Doctors from the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals as well as several Masters Students from the Obafemi Awolowo University. Dr Ajenifuja is also a seasoned researcher and has collaborated with many world-renowned researchers within and outside Nigeria on gynaecological cancer prevention and treatment. He is a member of several professional associations and societies among which are the International Gynaecological Cancer Society, American Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP), he is the pioneer secretary general of the Gynaecological Oncology Society of Nigeria. He has several peer review publications in both national and international journals and he is a reviewer for many local and international journals

He is happily married with children.
