DR OLUSEGUN O. BADEJOKO

Dr Olusegun Badejoko is a Senior Lecturer and Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist with special interest in Minimal Access Gynaecology (Laparoscopy/Hysteroscopy) and Urogynaecology. He graduated top of his class from the Obafemi Awolowo University medical school in 2002. He subsequently obtained the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons (FWACS) and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCOG) in 2010. He also obtained the Fellowship and Diploma in Minimal Access Surgery (FMAS and DMAS) of the World Laparoscopy Hospital in 2012. He became a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in 2018. Dr Badejoko has successfully pioneered operative gynaecological laparoscopy in the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC) Ile-Ife where he is an Honorary Consultant. He performs and teaches basic, intermediate and advanced laparoscopic surgery. In the field of Urogynaecology, Dr Badejoko is advancing research into non-fistulous urinary incontinence, a largely under-investigated problem in Nigeria. In Obstetrics, Dr Badejoko has conducted a series of Randomized Controlled Trials covering prevention of postpartum haemorrhage, prevention and treatment of malaria in pregnancy, induction of labour, and active management of labour. He is also an advocate for women’s sexual and reproductive health and rights. He is a member of the Sexual Violence Action Group. Dr Badejoko has several publications in both local and international peer review journals.
